Eleven counties
The rules change at the county line
Texas counties handle manufactured home placement very differently. Some require a development permit; several require none at all. Septic permit fees in this area run from roughly $250 to $600 for the permit alone.
Johnson County
Cleburne · $375 conventional, ET or LPD; $475 aerobic. County Development Services acts as the TCEQ designated representative.
Hood County
Granbury · County sources publish both $200 and $475. Both figures appear in county documents.
Somervell County
Glen Rose · $350 residential. Permit required regardless of acreage.
Erath County
Stephenville · $250 conventional, $450 aerobic.
Hill County
Hillsboro · $600.
Parker County
Weatherford · $480.
Ellis County
Waxahachie · Fee not published in the sources located.
Limestone County
Groesbeck · Permitting authority and fee not confirmed. Verify whether the county or the state administers septic permits for your parcel.
McLennan County
Waco · Administered through the Waco–McLennan County Public Health District. Fee not published in the sources located.
Bosque County
Meridian · $435 conventional, $535 aerobic, plus a $10 state surcharge. Permit and inspection required regardless of tract size.
Freestone County

Where counties publish conflicting numbers, we publish both
More than one county in this area shows two different figures for the same fee across its own documents. We are not going to guess which one is current. Where that happens, both appear on the county page and we tell you to call.
The same goes for anything we have not confirmed. A blank that says “confirm with the county” is more useful than a number we cannot stand behind.
Not sure which rules apply to your parcel?
