Questions
Water
How do I find out who provides water?
Identify the certificated holder for the parcel, then call them with the legal description. They are your only option, so the answer matters.
What is a water availability letter?
There is no statutory document by that name. In practice it means documentation the county asks for during septic permitting showing how the property will get water. Ask your county what it specifically requires.
What if the water company won’t serve me?
Certificated areas are exclusive, so you generally cannot go to another provider. A well is usually the remaining option.
How much is a tap?
It varies by provider and few publish it. Ask for the total to connect including meter and any extension, not just the tap fee.
Do I need a permit to drill a well?
Where a groundwater conservation district has jurisdiction, registration and permitting requirements apply. Several counties in this area sit inside one.
Still have a question?
Call and ask. We would rather answer it now than have you find out the expensive way.
